OBX Fishing
Fishing is very popular on the Outer Banks and many people love to hit up the Corolla area to stake out their own surf fishing spot. You will need to have a North Carolina fishing license, so make sure you have that before coming out to the Outer Banks for your first fishing trip. You can get your saltwater fishing license for only $15.00 per year, many fishing stores sell them as well as Walmart.
The state of North carolina has minimum sizes and daily limits on fish, you can get the details here.
Here are some popular fish that are often found around the Outer Banks areas:
- Bluefish - limit of 15 per day per person, very common fish
- Red Drum - you’d love to catch one of these big boys
- Spanish Mackerel - watch out for the teeth on these guys, they love to bite your toes once you have them on shore or in your boat. Popular fishing from the surf
