Whalehead Club
One of the classic landmarks of the Corolla area is the Whalehead Club.
The Whalehead Club was built in 1922 by Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Knight, both avid hunters and lovers of the outdoors. It is a mansion on a relatively desolate part of the Outer Banks and built at a cost of over $300,000 at the time. The house degraded in the last few decades but has been recently restored to all of its original glory. Tours are available on a daily basis in-season (roughly Easter through Thanksgiving).
